The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Entrance Exam is another highly competitive exam conducted by JIPMER for admission to its undergraduate medical program (MBBS) at its campuses in Puducherry and Karaikal, India.

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects and English as an elective subject.
• Minimum marks requirement:
  • General category: 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination.
  • SC/ST/OBC category: 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination.
• Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the year of admission.

Exam Pattern:

The JIPMER Entrance Exam is a computer-based online test with a duration of 3 hours. It consists of four sections:

• Physics: 40 questions (1 mark each)
• Chemistry: 40 questions (1 mark each)
• Biology: 60 questions (1 mark each)
• General Knowledge & Aptitude: 60 questions (1 mark each)

Selection Process:

• Based on the performance in the entrance exam, a merit list is prepared.
• Shortlisted candidates are then called for counseling and seat allocation based on their rank and seat availability.
