JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination Main)

JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination Main) is a national-level engineering entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India. It serves as the first stage for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and some state engineering colleges.

 

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must have passed the class 12th examination or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying marks are 65%, while for all other categories, it's 75%.
  • Candidates appearing for the class 12th examination in the current year are also eligible to apply.

 

Exam Pattern:

  • The exam is conducted online (computer-based test).
  • There are two papers: Paper 1 (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) and Paper 2 (Drawing for B.Arch and Planning aspirants).
  • Each paper is 3 hours long and has 25 questions (23 MCQs and 2 Numerical Value Questions).
  • Marking scheme: +4 for a correct answer, -1 for an incorrect answer, and 0 for unattempted questions.

  • Session 1:
    • Registration: November 2023 - December 2023 (Closed)
    • Exam Dates: January 27th - 31st, February 1st, 2024
    • Results declared: February 14th, 2024
  • Session 2:
    • Registration: February 15th, 2024 - March 12th, 2024
    • Exam Dates: April 15th - 18th, 2024
    • Results declared: May 11th, 2024
